JAMMU, May 31: BJP Mahila Morcha chief spokesperson, Ritika Trehan strongly condemned the indecent involving immoral behavior by AAP MLA Mehraj Malik from Doda with Dr. Madhu Chib, an Associate Professor at Government Medical College and Hospital, Doda.
Addressing a press conference here today, Ritika termed the incident as highly condemnable and disgusting and demanded strict action against the MLA for using social media platforms to publicly issue threats and using ‘abusive, gendered and derogatory remarks’ against a lady doctor.
She said that the erring MLA used phrases like “I will drag you. I will strip you naked.”
“These were not mere words but are direct threats to the dignity, safety and professional integrity of a female doctor serving in a government hospital,” the BJP leader maintained.
She claimed that these words clearly outrage the modesty of a female public servant that too on social media.
Ritika further said that this wasn’t the first time Malik’s name has figured in an FIR. In his affidavit to the Election Commission of India at the time of 2024 Assembly election, Malik had stated that he had half a dozen FIRs registered against him for offences that ranged from criminal intimidation and house trespass to promoting enmity between different groups. All these cases were registered against him at Gandoh Police Station between 2021 and 24.
Trehan appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take immediate action against MLA Mehraj Malik, ensuring accountability and justice else Mahila Morcha will hit the streets and roads in protest against the MLA.
