Ritika demands death penalty for minor rape perpetrator in Bishnah

JAMMU, Feb 17: Condemning the heinous rape of a minor girl at Bishnah and demanding the strictest punishment, including the death sentence, for the accused, a protest march led by Ritika Trehan, Convenor of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), was held here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Trehan expressed deep anguish over the incident and called for swift and exemplary justice to send a strong message against crimes targeting women and children.
“Such barbaric acts are a blot on society and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. Our daughters deserve safety, dignity and respect. We will not remain silent spectators when such atrocities take place,” she asserted, demanding that the case be fast-tracked to ensure timely justice.
Earlier, Trehan visited the victim’s residence to express solidarity with the grieving family.
She conveyed her heartfelt sympathy and emphasized that the fight for justice would continue until the accused is punished in accordance with the law and urged the administration to provide adequate protection and counseling support to the family.
She emphasized that awareness drives, community engagement, and coordination with law enforcement agencies will be intensified to build a safer environment for women and children across the region.
Among others who participated in the protest included Indu (Co-Convenor), Monika Khosla (Vice President), Convenor Praveen Kumari, Co-Convenor Vijay Devi, Convenor Neeru Anand, Co-Convenors Meena Kumari and Kusum Gupta, Convenor Tripta Raina, Co-Convenor Anjali Gupta, Megha Raina, Co-Convenor Leela Chattri, Arti Karle (Bahu), along with several BBBP team members and local residents.
