Ring-Road Toll Plaza resumes operations

JAMMU, Dec 8: Following intervention of the local administration, Ring-Road Toll Plaza at Sohanjana has been once again made operational with the condition of toll exemption to private vehicles registered in Jammu district.

According to SDM South, Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, no toll shall be charged from the local vehicles of Jammu, except commercial ones, till identification of the villages falling within the distance of 20 kilometres from the Toll Plaza.
Further, he added, the compensation pending disbursement shall be provided on priority within one month while the directions for time bound completion of service roads and installation of street lights on the road, wherever required, have been given to the NHAI.
As already reported by the Excelsior, vociferous resistance by the local commuters had forced National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to suspend collection of toll on Saturday, within 24 hours since operationalization of the new Toll Plaza on Jammu Ring Road.
