Minister assures to make Suru world class tourist destination

KARGIL, Aug 26: Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju today said that special attention is being paid for development of Ladakh UT.
Talking to reporters after inauguration of Suru festival along with LG of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta, he said Suru is a charming and attractive Valley and all efforts are being made to make it a world class tourist destination by Modi Government and UT administration of Ladakh.

He said Suru is best tourism destination different than other Valley’s and our efforts will be to develop it as world class tourist destination. The Modi Government has already decided this and along with UT administration our commitment is to develop Ladakh UT.
Rijiju said there is a world class glacier near here and “I intended to visit there but could not go due to inclement weather conditions.”
He, in response to a question that despite inclement weather and heavy rain and snowfall the festival was held, said he did not know that weather is inclement here.
“In entire Himalayan range the incessant rains and cloudbursts created disturbances and Government is all out to help the flood hit victims”, he added.
He said all steps will be taken by him to provide coaching to Ladakhi students aspiring for competitive examinations.
He said he came here on the invitation of CEC Kargil and “I had assured him to be the chief guest during the festival.”

Dr JaffarAkhoon had met Union Minister at New Delhi and extended an invitation to him to visit Kargil to participate as chief guest in Suru festival at Kargil on August 26.
The Minister accepted the invitation. The CEC during the visit had also met Union Agriculture Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan and both discussed priorities about development of Agriculture in Ladakh.
Earlier on his way to Kargil, the Minister said that Sonamarg is also a great tourism destination and it is also being developed.
Addressing the function, Kavinder Gupta said that his administration is committed to development of Ladakh as envisioned by PM NarendraModi. He said already Government has taken various steps in this regard and main thrust is given to make Ladakh a world class tourist destination and equal development of Leh and Kargil regions.
