JAMMU, Aug 5: In commemoration with third death anniversary of Ram Sahai former president of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu and a veteran leader, a grand function was held here today by 92.7 Big FM titled as “Khand Mithe Log Dogre’’.
Paying tributes to this great son of soil, B R Sharma, Principal Secretary, Home said Mr Sahai was a great personality. He was a person with a smiling face, a noble man who without yelling, screaming he used to do his work. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Vice Chancellor Central University (CU) Jammu, S S Biloria said Mr Sahai was a hardworking person who rose to such a position by dint of his hard work.
He had helping nature and was always ready to solve the problems of people. He was ready to render all help to Government whenever it comes across with a crisis situation.
He progressed slowly with his efforts and his down to earth attitude, Mr Biloria added.
He said Mr Sahai used to love his state and always worked for its progress and prosperity. Terming him a great friend he said former Chamber president’s separation was a great loss to all of us. He also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Vijay Bakaya, MLC and former Chief Secretary J&K while paying homage to Mr Sahai said late leader had a good reputation among the bureaucrats, politicians and with Government. The late leader had a good public relation also and every body used to visit to him, he added.
Terming Mr Sahai a great leader, who had done a remarkable work as president of Chamber of Commerce and industry, Mr Bakaya said his contributions can’t be forgotten.
Muzzafar Jaan (retd) Judge J&K High Court while paying tributes to Mr Sahai said as his name was Ram Sahai he had same qualities that of Lord Ram. Terming Mr Sahai a secular and hardworking man, he said Mr Sahai was a self made person. He was a man with full of qualities who was not only secular but hardworking, clean hearted and trustworthy.
He was a very faithful man and never used to exploit people. He while recalling Mr Sahai’s contribution in settling Amarnath land row issue, said the late leader had done a lot of social and humanitarian work.
Former DIG Ali Mohammed Watali termed Ram Sahai a good friend who never discriminated against the people on the basis of their caste creed and religion. He was very popular in Kashmir as well and when the Amarnath land row took place he played a leading role in settling it, Mr Watali added.
Sudhir Chandra a former chairman Central Board of Direct Taxes termed Mr Sahai a great friend an attractive personality with whom people got attracted and it appeared as if he had magnetic attraction.
He said Mr Sahai was a great social worker and very down to earth person who commanded a lot of respect among the people.
Amit Choudhary, Director, KC, Residency Hotel said that Mr Sahai used to help traders and his death was a great loss to people of the state especially the traders of Jammu. There are very few people who work for together and Mr Sahai was one among them, he added.
Others who paid tributes to Mr Sahai included Om Gupta, R S Reen, Raman Samnotra, T P Singh (retd) Excise Commissioner, Sudhir Chandra (rtd) Chairman CBDT, Government of India, Former MLA Choudhary Piara Singh and Rattan Lal.
Meanwhile Motor Parts Dealers Association in a meeting here today held under the chairmanship of Nishi Kant Khajuria its president paid rich tributes to Mr Sahai and highlighted his achievements. The meeting in an appeal to JDA and JMC urged them to take immediate steps for repairing drains and roads in Transport Nagar.
