Rich tributes paid to martyrs of Qila Darhal

NOWSHERA, Oct 31: Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs of  Shaheedgarh Qila Darhal who fought bravely against the Pakistani raiders in 1947.
The martyrs of Darhal Qila halted the advancement of Pak raiders/ Qabailis and inflicted heavy casualties  to Qabailis. Jathedar Ram Singh and his men fought bravely  and repulsed the attack from September 4, 1947,  till the arrival of Indian Army.
On October 28, 1947 a major attack was launched by enemy   and during fierce battle Jathedar Ram Singh, Hukum Singh, Sohan Singh, Suchan Singh, Pritam Singh and others attained martyrdom.
Special prayer was held at Qila Darhal where people of the area paid floral tributes to the martyrs. The function in this connection was organised to pay tributes to the martyrs under the chairmanship of  S Harmohinder Singh. Several political persons, Army officers and those in the Administration also attended the programme the other day.  Prominent among those included MP Jugal Kishore, MLA Ravinder Raina, MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Ex-MLC Ravinder Sharma and  DGPC Rajouri president Bhopinder Singh.
