Rich tribute paid to Martyr Maj Akash

JAMMU, Sept 9: Rich floral tribute were paid today to Shaheed Major Akash Singh, Shaurya Chakra awardee, on his Martyrdom Day during a solemn function organized by Team Jammu at Shaheed Major Akash Singh Memorial Park, Rajpura Mangotrian.
The Martyr’s family members including his wife Deepti Sambyal, Tejasvi Singh (son), brothers Rajeshwar Singh, Dr Jagdev Singh, Ajay Singh and Vikas Singh, brothers-in-law Atul Dev Singh, Sandeep Singh, and other close relatives including Asha Sambyal, Rita Devi, Kusum Katoch and Mamta Singh, joined the gathering to pay their heartfelt respects.
It was on September 9, 2009, that Major Akash Singh attained Martyrdom while gallantly fighting terrorists during an encounter along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
Speaking on the occasion, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman Team Jammu and BJP spokesperson, urged people to always remember the supreme sacrifices of Martyrs. He said such commemorations not only honour the valour of the Army but also strengthen the bond between the Armed Forces and citizens.
Highlighting the glorious legacy of Dogras in serving the nation, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said: “People of Jammu should feel proud that Dogras have made the highest sacrifices for the dignity and honour of Mother India. The valour and Martyrdom of Major Akash Singh will continue to inspire generations and will be remembered for centuries to come.”
Among others present on the occasion were Ramesh Thussoo, Rajesh Gandotra, Satish Padha, Kuldip Sharma, Ramesh Angurana, Sanjay Verma, Surinder Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Gauri Lal and Vikas Manhas.
