UDHAMPUR, Feb 21: A large number of people from all walks of life today paid rich tribute to Captain Tushar Mahajan on his 9th Balidan Divas (martyrdom day).

A wreath laying ceremony was held at the statue of the martyr at Tushar Morh in which officers of the 9 Para, Army jawans, family members, school students and a large number of people from civil society paid floral tribute to the braveheart.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of Tushar Memorial Trust and father of martyr Tushar Mahajan, Retd Lecturer Dev Raj Gupta and Tushar’s mother Asha Gupta said: “It is a matter of pride for our family that our son gave up his life for the nation. Today, after nine years of his martyrdom, thousands have come to pay their tribute, all of them are proud of my son”. They appealed youth to always remain standby for the service of nation and also work for the eradication of narco terrorism from soil .
Senior member of Tushar Memorial Trust, Ranjit Parihar remembered martyr Tushar Mahajan’s courage and valour and said that he was the epitome of true Indian soldier who does not mind sacrificing his life in the service of the nation. He said that Tushar has set examples for youth that while serving in any field they should keep in mind the Mantra of (Nation First) .
Students of Happy Model Higher Secondary School and Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School sung patriotic group songs in the memory of Captain Tushar on his martyrdom day.
Beside others, senior members Shewat Ketu Singh, Satish Chopra, Kalpana Jamwal, Vikas Manhas, Deepanker Gupta, Karun Raina , Principal Happy Model Higher Secondary School Udhampur, Dr Vikram Gulati, Principal BVM Udhampur, Renu Sharma were present on the occasion.
Captain Tushar made supreme sacrifice during a counter-terrorism operation in Pampore in February 2016. During the operation, he displayed heroic courage and skill in neutralising terrorists who were holed up in a Government building and later was awarded Shourya Chakra .
