JAMMU, May 27: Alleged land grabbers today pelted stones at a revenue team in the Gharota area here, prompting police to register an FIR and arrest one individual.
A police official said that, acting on a complaint, a team of revenue officials led by Tehsildar Bhalwal, Monika Sharma, was trying to retrieve a Government pathway encroached upon by one Mohammad Aslam at Galali area on the Mathwar Road in Gharota, when it came under attack from the family of Aslam, including his son Imran Zafar.
As the situation began to worsen, a team of police was called in to control the crowd, he said.
The timely intervention by the police brought the matter under control without any injuries to any individual, he added.
According to the police official, while a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered against several individuals, Imran Zafar, son of Mohammad Aslam, has been arrested and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the other individuals.
