JAMMU, Feb 2: A retired soldier drowned in Tawi River here, officials said today.
The deceased has been identified as Kanwal Nain Singh, aged 78, son of Harnam Singh and a resident of House Number 46, Sector 5A, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Officials said Singh’s body was spotted underneath the Tawi Bridge and was later shifted to Government Medical College Jammu for post-mortem examination.
According to them, inquest proceedings have been initiated to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances of the death.
A police officer said the deceased was a retired soldier; however, it was not immediately clear whether he had served in the Army or the Border Security Force.
