Retired policemen hold monthly meeting, project demands

JAMMU, Apr 14: The monthly meeting of the Ex Policemen League District Jammu was held under the chairmanship of Karanjit Singh here today.
The meeting began with a two minutes silence to pay homage to SSP Amjad Mirza, who passed away recently.
With former DGP Dr Ashok Bhan in attendance, the retired police men projected their grievances, mostly related to their health and medical expenses.
One peculiar demand was availability of free medicines for the police personnel in the Government and police hospitals across the UT.
The retired police personnel demanded that there should be special funds at the disposal of the DGP to help the pensioners.
They also demanded that the PHQ holds meeting at the Zonal and District level to seek advice of the retired personnel in combating the emerging threat of militancy.
The retired personnel also took the opportunity to appreciate the Jammu and Kashmir Police for solving the Greater Kailash theft case in a professional manner.
Those who attended the meeting included former DIGs, SSPs, SPs, and other officers and officials including, JL Sharma, Rajinder Gupta, Ch Chirag Din, Ranjit Singh, Suresh Sharma, Makhan Lal Sharma, Savita Parihar, Lal Chand, J S Chib, Satpal Sharma, Parshotam Bali, Prabhdyal Sharma, BL Kaul, Sardar Khan, Sham Lal Khalil ur Rehman, Mohammad Taj, Dhian Singh, among others.
A vegetarian lunch followed the meeting.
