JAMMU, Mar 5: Retired police personnel in Jammu and Kashmir have urged the Government to address long-pending issues related to pay anomalies and welfare benefits.
In a press release, the Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum said that Government Order number 229-F of 2014 regarding removal of pay anomalies was implemented prospectively, whereas the benefit should have been given from 1996 when the pay commission was implemented across departments.
The Forum said the Police Department was left out of the benefit. It added that the Central Administrative Tribunal, Jammu Bench, has also given a judgment in favour of the retirees and appealed to the Government to implement the order at the earliest so that pensioners can get due benefits.
The Forum also demanded that the ECHS card facility be extended to those who retired before 2019.
It further sought restoration of the NGO Mess at Gulshan Ground and the opening of a similar facility in Srinagar for retired personnel visiting from far-off areas.
Among other demands, the retirees called for increasing the medical allowance to Rs 1000 per month, providing 10 percent reservation for children of police personnel in professional colleges and recruitment, and involving retired personnel in national functions.
The Forum also requested one-time assistance for police personnel who were injured during militancy and are now facing hardships in old age.
