JAMMU, June 10: Retired personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Fire Services today held a peaceful protest at Hari Singh Park, Jammu, under the banner of the Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum.
During the protest led by Forum Chairman Ajit Singh, pensioners raised several long-pending issues before the UT Government, primarily the demand for correction of the pay anomaly as per Government order number 229-F of 2014.
They pointed out that the order was made effective prospectively, from 2014, while the anomaly dates back to 1996, when the 5th Pay Commission was implemented across the State-excluding the Police Department.
They demanded that the benefit be extended retrospectively to include all affected pensioners, many of whom have passed away while waiting for justice.
Another key demand was the extension of the ECH (Ex-Central Health) card benefits to police retirees who retired before 2019, as this facility is currently available only to those who retired after that year.
The protestors also sought the early release of pending gratuity under Article 242 of the Civil Services Regulations, stating that the case process for fixed pensions by DDOs should be expedited.
They further stated that the Tribunal Court has already ruled in their favour regarding the pay anomaly issue and urged the Government to implement the court’s order without further delay.
The protest concluded with a united call for the Government to address their grievances and ensure justice for all retired personnel who served the region with dedication.
