BUDGAM, Nov 7: With apparent reference to the Member Parliament and senior National Conference (NC) leader, Aga Syed Ruhullah, the NC candidate for the Budgam Assembly bypolls, Syed Aga Mehmood, today said that the result day will reveal “how many people are upset with NC and how many are happy.”

Addressing reporters before launching a road show across various areas of the constituency, Mehmood appealed to voters to support him, promising to transform Budgam into a “model constituency” if elected.
The campaign, ongoing for several days, was joined today by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and several NC legislators.
Responding to questions about public dissatisfaction with the party, Mehmood said such sentiments were a normal part of politics.
“You will come to know on November 14 who is upset and who is happy with us. We will come to know about it,” he said, adding that the election outcome would reflect the true public mood.
On the Chief Minister joining the campaign trail, Mehmood said, “He is the leader of the party and had to join the campaign. I am thankful to him.”
He added that Abdullah’s participation “will have an impact.”
Urging people not to remain distant from the Government, Mehmood said that the Government is already in place and the CM has pledged to make Budgam a model constituency. “I would urge people to vote for NC and make Budgam a model constituency.”
He accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of neglecting Budgam, though he chose not to elaborate on the issue.
Welcoming the participation of residents from Soibugh, Mehmood said their engagement in the political process was “a great beginning.”
“They have their issues and we will address those. Their becoming part of the political process is a welcoming step,” he said.
Identifying the Hokersar issue as a key local concern, Mehmood pledged to resolve it if elected.
“The issue of Hokersar is genuine and has remained unaddressed. I have promised them that if elected, it will be resolved. I will not just attempt but ensure that it is addressed,” he asserted.
