JAMMU, Feb 18: J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), Jammu Province has extended full support to J&K Medical Employees Federation in their ongoing struggle for the restoration of two-and-a-half day salary allowance, which has been discontinued for certain categories of health employees across J&K.
Addressing the media persons here today, EJAC provincial president, Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh and general secretary, Onkar Singh, along with senior leaders of EJAC Jammu Province urged J&K Government to resolve the issue at the earliest to avoid any disruption in healthcare delivery system.
EJAC leadership highlighted that the Health Department in J&K is already functioning under tremendous pressure due to acute staff shortage particularly in rural, remote and far-flung areas and the medical employees posted in these challenging regions are rendering round-the-clock services under difficult circumstances.
EJAC general secretary, Onkar Singh also demanded immediate restoration of the allowance in favour of all the entitled categories without any discrimination.
