Restoration of more trains announced

JAMMU, Sept 4: Even as the normal rail traffic continues to remain paralyzed since September 26, Northern Railway today announced restoration of more trains to and from Jammu thus taking the total number of restored trains to 21.

Meanwhile, the Jammu-Katra shuttle train service, which was started to facilitate the movement of locals and stranded passengers, remained suspended for the second consecutive day as landslides blocked the portal of tunnel number 16 on the rail track between Ramnagar and Manwal in the Jammu-Udhampur section.
“Due to heavy rainfall and landslides, railways have decided to cancel the shuttle train service (between Jammu and Katra) today,” Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said.
The shuttle services, with the induction of four trains between Katra and Jammu, had started on September 1, and were scheduled to run till September 15.
According to an official spokesperson of Northern Railway, the restored trains to and from Jammu include Pooja Express (12413, 12414), Swaraj Express (12471, 12472), Sarvodaya Express (12473,12474), HAPA-SVDK Express (12475), JAM-SVDK Express (12477), NDLS-SVDK Vande Bharat (22477), SVDK-NDLS Vande Bharat (22478), SVDK-TEN EXP (16788), MAS-SVDK Andman Express (16031), SVDK-MAS Andman Express (16032), JBP-SVDK Express (11449), SVDK-JBP Express (11450), HWH-JAT Himgiri Express (12331), JAT-HWH Himgiri Express (12332), Malwa Express (12919, 12920), BSB-JAT Express (12237) and JAT-BSB Express (12238).
These trains will restore operations from different dates, starting September 6 to September 21.
