UDHAMPUR, June 16: A deputation of people from Ward No. 12 and 17 of the town called on Executive Engineer PHE Udhampur and projected issue of water scarcity in the area.
Led by former Councillor Rajesh Pachiala, the deputation projected the issue of water scarcity in the locality near Devak and Trikuta Ice Factory on National Highway. The locals alleged that they were suffering for the last three years and the department has turned a deaf ear towards their plight. They pointed out that there are nearly 60-70 families which are badly hit. The department has not changed pipes as per the need of the area. There has been over loading but new pipes were not laid despite a number of requests.
The XEn showed his inability to help the people on the plea that department had no funds. But with the intervention of BJP leader Pawan Gupta and assurance from MP Dr Jitendra Singh, the issue was resolved on the spot. The MP offered funds from his own Constituency Development Fund for the purpose. The locals extended gratitude to the MP and BJP leader Pawan Gupta. The XEn assured to start work with in one week. Rajesh Sharma, Saurav, Pushpa Devi, Suman Rajesh Gupta, Naveen Kumar and others accompanied.
