JAMMU, Mar 17: Notwithstanding the diktats of the Principal Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), at the behest of the Health Minister, Lal Singh, Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) GMCH Jammu and Associated Hospitals has decided to carry on the agitation against the Health Minister by taking out protests march on alternate days till higher administration awakes from deep slumber.
This was stated by president of RDA, GMCH and Associated Hospitals, Neeraj Sharma in a press release issued here.
“We don’t want to put the innocent general public to hardships by going to strikes so we will hold the protest march only after normal working hours i.e after 4 pm while all emergencies and routine wards will be manned by Residents as usual”, he added.
He said that the false promises of security arrangements in GMCH and Associated Hospitals by the Minister and GMCH authorities have been exposed as instead of providing police personnel for security of Hospitals, the Principal GMCH at the behest of the Minister has floated Global tender for security to favour particularly the present security agency owned by Dr Uttam Singh, Medical Officer, Stores GMCH Jammu, who is known to be very close to politicians.
He reiterated that no resident doctor will wear apron till their demands viz security, proper dress code, and other issues which were promised by the higher administration on March 4, are fulfilled in letter and spirit.
Dr Neeraj also reiterated that RDA will challenge in Court of Law the recent circular issued by Principal GMCH, which directly infringes upon the doctors’ fundamental right of freedom of expression through peaceful means without stopping work.
