DODA, Sept 16: Resident doctors of Government Medical College (GMC) Doda today held a protest demonstration at Associated Hospital of the College (District Hospital, Doda), demanding release of their salaries.
A large number of resident doctors as well as paramedical staff assembled this morning in front of the Associated Hospital of GMC Doda and registered their protest against the District Administration’s order of marking their attendance on ‘Adbhut’ app.
The protesting doctors said that their working hours are not fixed unlike others as they have to perform duties continuously for 48 hours and in case of emergency, they have to come to attend duties even on odd hours; then how can they register and mark their attendance on this app.
“We are already marking our attendance in three ways-Biometrics, NMC and on Register and our attendance is directly monitored at Secretariat level, then why we are being forced to mark our attendance on ‘Adbhut’ app,” the agitating doctors said while stating that this app is not being used in any Government Medical College of the Union Territory.
The protesting doctors said by blocking our salaries, the District Administration today forced us to go for a token protest but if our salary is not released and we are further pressurized to mark attendance of ”Adbhut’ app, we have to resort to a complete strike as a part of which we will stop doing all elective surgeries and non-emergency duties.
Meanwhile, Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ) condemned the decision of DC Doda for pressurizing resident doctors to mark attendance of ‘Adbhut’ app and stopping their salaries. “We regret the misuse of power on the doctors of GMC Doda by DC Doda. It is really sad and is not at all justified,” DAJ said and appealed DC Doda to rollback his decision.
Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA), GMC and Associated Hospitals Jammu also extended their support to resident doctors of GMC Doda and appealed the District Administration Doda and Principal GMC Doda not to pressurize the residents to register on ‘Adbhut’ app and release their salaries.
