JAMMU, Jan 20: Apni Party Provincial president Jammu Manjit Singh has demanded 80 % reservation of posts for the unemployed local skilled and unskilled jobs in the industrial sector.
Addressing a meeting at the party office in Gandhi Nagar, Manjit Singh said that unemployment is one of the major issues for J&K which is yet to be handled by the Govt.
“However, the already engaged daily wagers, and Special Police Officers (SPOs) are also waiting for their regularization. The commitments must be fulfilled by the Govt with the regularization of temporarily engaged workers in different departments including NHM workers,” said Manjit Singh.
He said that there is frustration among the unemployed youth in J&K which needs to be addressed by the Govt without further delay.
“Delaying Assembly elections in J&K will further add to the feeling of alienation especially among the unemployed youth,” Manjit said.
“The industrial sector is one of the main sources of providing employment to the youth. It is therefore, important to engage local youth and reserve jobs for them in the industrial sector in both skilled and unskilled,” he added.
“The Govt must ensure employment of skilled and unskilled local youth in the industrial sector so that they can get an opportunity to earn their livelihood,” he said.
Singh said that the issue of aspirants of BSF should also be looked into on humanitarian grounds by the authorities.
“The issue of youth engaged in the Sports separtment should be resolved at the earliest and similarly, the unpaid VDCs should be paid for their work adequately by the Government,” he said.
He also referred to the Border Battalion issue which is being raised by the youth and said Govt must look into their demand.
