JAMMU, Feb 27: Police in Satwari area here today claimed they have arrested a habitual drug peddler and recovered 262 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
According to police, a team from Police Station Satwari laid a naka at Dharap area in Satwari.
During checking, they said, a man, identified as Rashpal Singh alias Anda of Upper Gadigarh, was intercepted while moving from Dharap towards Rohi Pind.
On seeing the police party, he tried to flee but was immediately chased and apprehended by the alert team, police said.
During his search, 262 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession, they said.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 50/2026 under the relevant sections of the law was registered against him at Police Station Satwari and further investigation taken up, they said.
Police said the accused is a repeat offender and has 4 FIRs already registered against him in connection with drug peddling.
