Religious leaders call for half day bandh, seek strict punishment to doc

LEH, May 25: All Religious Joint Action Committee called for half day bandh here today to condemn the alleged Nyoma molestation incident reported recently.
The entire merchant establishment including shops, restaurants other outlets remained shutdown for half day here.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, Ladakh Buddhist Association President PT Kunzang flanked by Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam Vice President Dr Noor Din, Anjuman Imamia President Ashraf Ali Barcha and Christian Community President Dechen Chamga demanded strict punishment to set example for others so that no one dares to such crimes.
Kunzang demanded that administration and the Government should not hush up this serious matter of molestation of young juvenile school girls at PHC Nyoma by arrested Dr Babar, who has been booked under FIR Number 5/17 under Section 354-A and 354-B RPC by Nyoma police on May 16.
Unless an immediate action is initiated against the culprit, public of this region are not going to be calm down and will protests continue till the culprit will be awarded the highest degree of punishment and terminated from the job with immediate effect, he added.
“Such a heinous and ghastly act by this man is condemned to the highest degree by all the religious communities of this region. We collectively demand that this man should immediately be terminated from his service and highest possible punishment should be awarded to him”, he stated.
Women wing of different religious heads and Youth Wing Presidents were also present during the press conference.
