Relief holders warn agitation

JAMMU, Apr 11: All Kashmiri Migrant Relief Holders today demanded that the relief holders be provided relief at the rate of Rs 150 per day per soul in view of sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.
They warned that in case the demand was not met by May 15 the relief holders will resort to indefinite agitation.
Talking to reporters here today Ajay Bhat, Sunil Pandita, Rajinder Pandit and other activists of the organization demanded immediate transfer of non revenue staff from Relief organization to their parent department who have over five years stay in the organization.
They demanded holding of elections in Jagti township on the basis of Panchayts to elect the due representative body of migrants.
They said that Government should take firm stand in crushing the corrupt elements and remove them from the administration at all levels. Besides all the non revenue employees working in relief organization should be sent to their parent departments for the smooth functioning of the organization.
They demanded that the relief be paid in a stipulated time frame from first of every month to 15th of the month and in case of delay the officers responsible be penalized.
The relief holders said that during their nine month long agitation including fast unto death in 2012 the Government had assured to settle the demands but later they backtracked.
They said when Government pays over Rs 200 per day in jail for prisoners why can’t they pay the relief at the norms set by Government of India.
