KATHUA, Jan 8: Expressing concern over the withholding of sugar supply to migrant relief holders, Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) president, Shadi Lal Pandita in an appeal to the Lt. Governor, G C Murmu has sought his immediate intervention in the matter.
At a press conference here, today, Pandita said withholding of sugar quota to the migrant relief holders has put them to lot of problems as they have to purchase the same at high rates in the market. He urged the LG to ensure early release of sugar quota for the relief holders.
He termed the assurances regarding the safe and dignified return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits as a hollow slogan of Government of India saying nothing was done in this regard till date. He reiterated his demand of settling displaced Pandits in three satellite townships in the Valley as they (Pandits) can not return to their ancestral villages and live in scattered places there. He demanded safe and secure places within Valley for the rehabilitation of Pandits be identified by the Government as early as possible.
He also demanded enhancement of cash relief to Rs 25,000 per family per month in view of sky rocketing prices of essential commodities, launching of on spot drive by Government for migrant youth in Police, creation of 3000 class fourth posts for those migrant youth who could not continue higher education due to poverty, announcement of 10,000 more posts under special employment package for migrant youth, settlement of problems of over-aged youth by providing them one time compensation, removal of encroachment from Hindu religious places, compensation for damaged losses and properties, removal of encroachments from migrants land and other property in Kashmir Valley, release of pending ex-gratia relief and declaration of Kashmiri Pandit community as minority community.,
