UDHAMPUR: Apr 11: Rekha Mahajan, Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, strongly rebutted remarks made by Congress leadership regarding women’s reservation and delimitation, while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to women empowerment.
Addressing a meeting of Mahila Karyakartas at Mandal Khoon in Udhampur district, organized by Mahila Morcha Mandal President Namarta Bali, Rekha Mahajan criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for terming the timing of discussions on women’s reservation as a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and expressing concerns over delimitation.
Responding sharply, Rekha Mahajan said: “The Congress party has always tried to delay and dilute issues related to women empowerment. Today, when decisive steps are being taken, they are raising unnecessary objections.”
She further added: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has demonstrated true commitment towards empowering women, not just through words but through impactful policies and initiatives. The women of India today are more confident, secure, and empowered than ever before.”
On the issue of delimitation, Mahajan stated, “Delimitation is a serious and constitutional process aimed at ensuring fair representation. Instead of politicizing it, all stakeholders should engage in constructive dialogue.”
Highlighting the importance of the Women’s Reservation Bill, she remarked, “Women have waited for decades for adequate representation in legislative bodies. This historic step must be welcomed, not questioned.”
Mahajan also interacted with women party workers and appreciated their grassroots efforts in strengthening the party. She encouraged them to actively participate in spreading awareness about Government schemes aimed at women’s welfare.
Reaffirming the party’s stance, she said, “Our vision is clear – to build a society where women are equal partners in development and decision-making.”
