JAMMU, June 20: National Sample Survey Office (Field Operation Division) Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, Regional Office Jammu is organizing a three-day Regional Training Camp for NSS 75th Round from today at Press Club Jammu.
The training is being attended by the officers and the field staff from the NSSO (FOD) Regional Office Jammu, Sub-Regiona1 Office Udhampur and some Officers and field staff of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, J&K Government.
The NSS 75th Round will cover the subject `Household Consumer Expenditure’ `Household Social Consumption: Health’, ‘Household Social Consumption:
Education and Swachh Bharat Survey’.
The training programme was inaugurated by Amitjyoti Roy, deputy Director General NSSO (FOD), GoI, Jammu. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the role of National Sample Survey Office in developing a sound Statistical database for the use by planners and policy makers, research and various other agencies. He appealed people of the State to give full cooperation to the Field Officers for NSSO to provide correct and reliable information.

Altaf Hussain Haji, Director NSSO (FOD), Regional Office Srinagar, was also present in the inaugural session. He highlighted the importance of NSS 75th Round.
All the four subjects to be covered in this round are the prime source of Statistical
Indicators on social consumption and well being, level of living, inequality and Swachhta status thereof.
Objective of the household consumer expenditure survey has remained important since the origin of NSS, being the prime source of Statistical indicators on social consumption and well being, level of living and inequality thereof and for estimating various other parameters and to study the level of nutrition of different regions and disparities therein. This is considered as one of the most important component of the official measure of poverty.
In the NSS 75th Round, a total of 14300 villages/blocks are being allocated for Central and 16492 villages/blocks for the State samples. These will be surveyed at all India level. The total number of First Stage Units (FSUs) in Jammu and Kashmir State is on equal matching basis i.e. 428 for Central and 428 for State samples.
