JAMMU, Mar 14: Former minister and senior vice president People’s Conference Abdul Gani Vakil today asked the Lt Governor led administration to detail out the guidelines and laws to empower the District Development Councils and its chairpersons without wasting anytime.
Although the Govt has assured in the recent meeting of chairpersons, vice chairpersons and members to redraft DDC protocol and a new protocol will have a status much above were the DDC are asking but the Govt must be prompt in taking decision so that the development work will not suffer. People have been elected but they are clueless what to do.
It is surprising that there is no empowerment, nor even a place for them to start working for these DDC members functioning. The present position of DDC’s are humiliating and handicapped as they are sitting idle holding meetings only and no funds are allotted to them till today. Vakil was addressing party convention at Kot Bhalwal in Jammu.
He lambasted both Centre and LG Govt for employment promises and said the promises proved to be hoax pushing the youth to the wall although SSB notified posts of different department for which unemployed youth applied but the recruiting process is very slow and will definitely push the youth to trouble causing alienation among them from mainstream which will not be at all in the interest of the nation. He urged the UT Administration to come with a concrete job policy for the unemployed youth so that they cannot suffer any more.
Hitting out at the poor development District president Jammu Mohan Lal Radha while addressing the convention said that the UT administration has failed in all aspects to provide any relief to the poor people as condition of roads is same as they were. There is lack of basic facilities including shortage of electricity, drinking water and poor treatment in Govt hospitals.
