Sir,
The Union and State Governments have imposed a ban on the use and sale of polythene bags as polythene, being a great pollutant, its safe disposal is not possible and it degrades the environment. Moreover,if burnt, it produces toxic gases which result in polluting the environment. As recyclable and ecofriendly plastic bags are easily available in the market these days, efforts must be made to promote the use of such bags and check the use of such bags as are made of materials hazardous to the environment. At the same time, awareness must be created in the people that recycling and disposal of wrappers of potato chips, peanuts, video discs, candies, chocolates, disposable napkins, cups and plates, other such products is possible and these wrappers should not be thrown here, there and everyehere. As the food items contained in these wrappers are favourite with the children, a large number of these wrappers can be seen lying all around.Similarly, wrappers containing shampoos, detergents, spices, tobacco products etc too are found scattered on the roadside and other places .Therefore, these wrappers need to be collected and recycled to protect the environment. The Government ought to ensure that only those wrappers should be allowed, which are ecofriendly and pose no threat to the environment.
Moreover, people, in general, too ought to contribute towards protecting the environment by throwing such wrappers and other such things in the dustbins on the roadside. They ought to advise their children to put the wrappers in their pockets or bags after eating the food products packed in them and throw them in the dustbins for their proper and safe disposal.
Yours etc….
