Record of births now available online

SRINAGAR, Oct 7: In view of the grievances of general public regarding issuance of birth and death certificates by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) several steps have been taken by Government for speedy issuance of the certificates through a Single Window System which shall minimise the time taken at various levels.
A spokesman of SMC said that this has been done as part of the e- governance initiative of the Government of India for rendering smart services to citizens in a timely and transparent manner.
“The entire record of Institutional Births in Hospitals in Srinagar can be found and verified online on website: hudd.gov.in where certificates can be downloaded on line from a computer with printer at home,” he said.
The spokesman further said: “a grievance reddressal mechanism has also been put in place by the SMC for which citizens have been asked to dial: 0194-2474499 and Toll Free number: 1800-180-7038 and email queries on: registrarbirthanddeath@gmail.com”.
