SRINAGAR, July 28: The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather today announced to develop Government Degree College Chari-i-Sharif as a model degree college. He also announced to establish Sheikh-ul-Alam Auditorium cum Research Centre near the Degree College to conduct research and translation of the verses of revered Sufi saint Sheikh Noor Din Wali (RA) and propagate his teachings across the globe as these are relevant even today and will continue to be torch bearer in eradicating evils from the society.
“Only 10 Government degree colleges in the state are being developed as model degree colleges and the degree colleges Chari-i-Sharif will be one among them”, Mr. Rather said at a public gathering after inaugurating branch office of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) at Chari-i-Sharif today. The Minister said steps are underway to teach Kashmiri subject in 9th and 10th classes also, adding that BOSE has completed preparation of syllabus and text books for this purpose. Presently Kashmiri subject is being taught at middle school, Degree College and University levels leaving the gap of 9th and 10 classes. He said Kashmiri language has a rich literature which would be promoted at all levels.
The Chairman BOSE Dr. Bashir Ahmed, Chief Education Officer Budgam Nazir Ahmad, a large number of prominent citizens, members from the teaching and students community, officers of Education Department and BOSE were present on the occasion.
Mr. Rather also announced computer lab at Government Higher Secondary school Chrar-i-Sharief, adding that additional make shift accommodation will be raised to run classes till construction of Degree college building is completed.
The Minister said opening of branch office of BOSE at Chrar-i-Sharief will remove difficulties of the students and teaching community of the area as till now they had to travel to Budgam or Pulwama sub-offices of BOSE for various affairs related to academic activities.
He also assured that special bus service for students of Chrar- Sharif and adjacent areas will be arranged to facilitate them reach to their respective educational institutions timely.
