AKHNOOR, Apr 11: Panic gripped residents of Devipur and Garkhal villages along the International Border (IB) in Akhnoor today after a tornado-like formation was spotted in the sky.

Police officials said the natural formation appeared near Devipur village and later moved towards Garkhal before disappearing without touching the ground. Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Director of the JK Metrological Department told a news gathering agency that the rare phenomenon lasted for about 10 minutes in the sky.
Local police officials said no loss of life, livestock or injuries were reported as the phenomenon remained in the air.
However, videos of the incident were widely shared on social media, leaving locals concerned about safety and unusual weather conditions in the border areas.
