REASI, Apr 2: A complete bandh was observed in Ransoo today as local traders staged a protest demanding the extension of pilgrimage timings for the Shiv Khori Yatra.
The call for shutdown was given by the local Vyapar Mandal, with protestors assembling near the main gate of the Shiv Khori shrine and sitting on a dharna. They raised concerns over the restriction imposed two years ago, following a terrorist attack on a pilgrim bus, after which authorities ordered that the yatra would not be allowed beyond 5 PM.
According to the protestors, the limited yatra timing has severely impacted local livelihoods, leading to the closure of several small business establishments dependent on pilgrim footfall.
“We are not opposing security measures, but the current timing restriction has badly affected our income. We request the administration to review and extend the yatra timing,” said one of the protesting traders.
The demonstrators urged the Deputy Commissioner Reasi, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Shiv Khori Shrine Board to look into their genuine demands and take necessary steps for redressal.
