JAMMU, June 29: Rangyug-one of the pioneering performing arts foundations of the region, announced the premiere performance of its new Dogri play Chanchlo.
This was disclosed today in a press conference by Deepak Kumar, Director Rangyug, along with team members Dr Juhie Mohan, Ashish Sharma and Shivan Gupta, who shared their insights on the production process and Rangyug’s continued commitment to meaningful theatre.
They shared that the performance, sponsored by the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, is scheduled for Sunday, 6th July at 6 PM at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu and entry is free for all. Theatre lovers, students, artists, and citizens from all walks of life are warmly invited to witness this soulful and mesmerizing cultural evening.
“Chanchlo is the Dogri adaptation of Nadira Zaheer Babbar’s acclaimed Hindi/Marathi play Sakubai – a powerful story that highlights the unseen struggles and inner strength of domestic workers in urban households. Adapted into Dogri by Dr Juhie Mohan, the play brings this iconic narrative closer to the regional culture and language of Jammu,” said Deepak Kumar.
