‘Rangroots’ launched

Jammu , Oct 29 : ‘Rangroots’ a new cultural organisation launched here today by Natrang Director Balwant Thakur.
Rangroots is a Jammu Based theatre society has been formed by the alumni of National School of Drama, to explore and develop the alternative language in performance.
This national level group will have its base in Jammu and work throughout the country and aims at the development and promotion of Art and Culture in the State, particularly among the displaced community of the Kashmir valley who are living in exile from last two decades in Jammu and other parts of the country.
Inaugurating the new theatre group, Natrang Director Balwant Thakur, welcomed the young team of professionals with a new entity to the world of theatre and hoped that will give a new momentum to the development of Indian theatre scene and enthuse new creative energy. He took pride in saying that the Director of Rangroots is a product of Natrang and assured all possible help from Natrang in laying a strong foundation of this organisation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Rangroots, Asheish Nijhawan, said that the aim is to investigate into the roots to study and explore the elements of ancient culture of universal consciousness prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir in practices such as Kashmir Shaivism, Sufism, Buddhism and combining them with the postmodernist approach of art to create a new synthesis resulting in the development of a Universal Performance Language. He expressed his heartiest thanks to Natrang and its Director Balwant Thakur and his teacher eminent playwright and Director Moti Lal Kemmu for inspiring him to launch this new organisation with specific mission in theatre.
On the occasion Asheish Najhawan informed that the group in collaboration with National School of Drama and Natrang Jammu is going to start an intensive production oriented theatre workshop in Jammu from November 10, 2012.
