JAMMU, Apr 15:  Pakistani Rangers opened firing on their side of the International Border (IB) opposite Regal post of Samba sector in wee hours of this morning, reportedly to kill a leopard, which had sneaked close to their posts on the border.
“The firing by Pakistani Rangers at 2.15 am early today opposite Regal Post of Samba sector was not aimed at the BSF. Therefore, we didn’t retaliate,” DIG BSF Jammu, Dharmender Pareekh said.
He added that there were reports of a leopard having sneaked into Pakistan side opposite Regal and the Rangers feared that it could enter into their posts. The Rangers reportedly fired a burst targeting the leopard.
He said the Rangers had fired five to six rounds only on their side of the border.
