JAMMU, Oct 11: Veteran leader and former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh today urged the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that the minimum height of Dogra soldiers for recruitment should be relaxed down to 5 feet as Dogras are fighters like Gorkhas and their required height be relaxed not only in Armed forces but also in Navy, Air Force and all security forces as well as J&K Police.
He also demanded that the Balidan Stambh situated in Jammu should be brought under tourist map for visiting Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims to pay their homage.
In a statement, Mr Singh also lambasted the Congress party for criticizing Shastra Pujan performed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while receiving Rafale fighter plane from France. “Shastra Pujan is the oldest tradition of India while Indian Army has been worshipping weapons on Vijyadashmi and our Defence Minister did the same,” he said.
