JAMMU, Sept 7: MLA Bahu, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, visited the localities of Preet Nagar and Digiana to assess the on-ground damage caused by the recent spell of heavy rainfall. The visit aimed to understand the severity of the situation and interact with residents affected by the water logging and infrastructure damage.
Significant damage was observed across several areas, particularly to residential properties, lanes, and drainage systems. One of the major causes identified was the overflowing of the local nallah, which led to water entering homes and disrupting normal life.
During the visit, MLA Randhawa was accompanied by the Satwari Mandal team, including Mandal president, Ritika, other members of team and local dignitaries.
Speaking to the residents, MLA Randhawa said “I understand the hardship faced by the people due to the flooding. The damage to homes and public infrastructure is deeply concerning. I assure you that I will take this matter up with the concerned departments on priority.”
He further added “The main issue is the poor condition of the nallah, which caused the water to overflow into residential areas. We will push for immediate cleaning, repair, and widening of the drain where required, to prevent such incidents in the future.”
“The well-being of the people is our topmost priority. I am here with my team to ensure that all necessary help and support reaches you at the earliest.”
The team also met with local residents to listen to their grievances and took note of the immediate relief requirements. MLA Randhawa emphasized the need for urgent attention from civic agencies and pledged continuous monitoring of the situation until normalcy is restored.
