JAMMU, May 3: While BJP J&K UT secretary and former MLC , Ch Vikram Randhawa has leveled allegations against District Mining Officer Jammu, his party, Union Minister and other officers in the administration, BJP has issued a show cause notice to him and the Minister’s Constituency incharge, Sanjeev Sharma has warned to file a defamation suit of Rs one crore against him.
Vikram Randhawa in a press conference here, today leveled corruption charges against the District Mining Officer Jammu and alleged that he is looting the stone crusher owners and minting huge money through illegal mining in river Tawi.
He said, while the outsider contractors working on Fly Over, Ring Road and Four lanning of Akhnoor road have been given free hand in illegal mining in the river Tawi the local stone crusher owners are being harassed and humiliated by the DMO who is demanding a huge amount as bribe from them. The labourer working in extracting gravel from river have been debarred and they have lost their source of earning while the outsiders have been given free hand, he alleged.
He said the DMO Jammu is hell bent to sell entire soil of river Tawi illegally and when asked the DMO said that he has to grease the palms of higher ups in administration.
The BJP leader also did not spare his party targeting one of his party colleague and a Union Minister.
However taking serious exception to the outbursts of the former MLC, the Minister’s Constituency office incharge, Sanjeev Sharma also held a press conference and refuted the allegations lock stock and barrel and termed it an outcome of desperation of BJP leader.
Sharma said that it is not known whether Randhawa has given the statement on instance of some body or it was outcome of his desperation. He said the BJP leader should either substantiate his allegations with proof or tender an apology within 24 hours through media failing which the constituency office of Minister will file a defamation suit of Rs one crore against him. He said this has also been the stand of the Minister.
Meanwhile, the BJP Disciplinary Committee led by Advocate Sunil Sethi party chief spokesperson with Virenderjeet Singh and R D Rajwal as its members has served a show Cause Notice to Randhawa for levelling unfounded allegations against a senior leader of party holding responsible position in Union Council of Ministers.
The Committee said that the unparliamentarily language used by him in the media interaction is also highly objectionable. Blaming Randhawa of tarnishing the image of the party, the Committee urged him to file his reply along with evidence if any available with you within two days.
The Stone Crushers owners led by Vijay Kumar Sharma have also disassociated themselves from the statement of Randhawa saying that there is no Union of Stone Crusher Owners led by him. They termed the allegations leveled by him baseless and outcome of his frustration. The statement was issued through Vijay Kumar Sharma and other stone crusher owners.
The District Mining Officer has also denied the allegation saying that Randhawa was involved in illegal mining and he has to pay a penalty of Rs one crore to Department which he is ignoring.
