JAMMU, June 12: Senior NC leader and MLA Mendhar, Javed Ahmed Rana has demanded opening of more primary and middle schools in Pir Panjal region instead of closing of existing schools.
Rana said that it is duty of the State to provide the free and compulsory education to every citizen and being welfare State, it become the duty of present Government to provide the education to the students of the State.
He wondered that how the education department under the supervision of well qualified and seasoned Minister is bent upon closing the whole education system in the State.
Rana said that no doubt many schools in the area are having fewer enrollments but it is not appropriate to force the students to leave their education, as our area as a whole is hilly State and it is very difficult for the small children to move a long distance to get the basic education.
He said that Government should rethink over this decision and relocate the schools instead of co-locating, as there is tremendous demand for opening of more and more primary as well as Middle Schools in Pir Panjal region.
