Ram Prakash emerges winner of IDPS Checkmate Chess C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 21: Ram Prakash of India Railway won 1st Crown Trust and IDPS Checkmate FIDE Rating Chess Championship, while Krishan Soni of Postal Department stood runner-up, organised here at IDPS School Sunjwan.
The winner was awarded with Rs.10000 cash prize along with a trophy. In this event, three unrated J&K players achieved FIDE Rating.
First time ever in J&K, this type of initiative was taken by IDPS Checkmate to promote chess in J&K and to provide the highest level platform to budding local players.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association along with former champion and senior J&K player SP Sharma presented the award to winners, while international arbiter, Dharmendra Kumar paired all the matches and Bindu Pathania was chief arbiter of the event.
The event was organised by IDPS School in collaboration with crown Trust and Jammu District Chess Association and sponsored by Electricfield.
