Ram Madhav’s assurance for relief cannot be taken seriously: Soz

JAMMU, June 24: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz today asked Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed to realize that assurances of people like Ram Madhav can no longer be taken seriously by anybody in Kashmir, after Modi Government added insult to the injury for Kashmiris by declaring a structured relief package of Rs 1500/- crores only against the demand of Rs 44000/- crores.
“Now, after nine months since the floods, the Central Government’s team is expected to visit for a fresh assessment of loss whereas people like Ram Madhav still feel comfortable to extend false assurances regarding relief,” he said in a press statement.
Prof Soz suggested that Mufti Syeed should deal this subject himself directly with Mr Modi and take the people of Jammu and Kashmir State into his confidence and explain the position to them, before it is too late. “It will be wrong for the Chief Minister to be taken in by the false assurances of relief at this critical juncture when the unseasonal rains have further shortened the working-season in Kashmir, where the winter is going to set in quite soon,” he added.
The Congress further said that Mufti Sayeed could also urgently issue an earnest appeal to the people of Kashmir to come forward for donations for the relief victims and this could be done on a war-footing, after holding an all party meeting on this critical subject.
