Raksha Bandhan celebrated with gaiety across Jammu province

JAMMU, Aug 10: Raksha Bandhan festival, which symbolises the love and duty between brothers and sisters, was celebrated with gaiety, fraternity and chastity across Jammu province.
Under the aegis of 8 Mountain Division Kargil the 153 Artillery Unit organized a colourful programme on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan in Army Good Will School  Froona  where hundred of Army jawans deployed in LoC Kargil, civilians and school students participated. Ashok Kumar, former Director Coal India was chief guest and Commanding Officer 153 Rajesh Kumar was the guest of honour who presented the gifts to school students. Students of AGS Froona and JNV students present Rakhee to Army jawans and officers.
A colourful cultural programme was organized in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal to celebrate Raksha Bandhan festival. Dinesh Sharma, Superintendent of Jail spoke on the importance of the day. Medical Officer, Assistant Commandant, CRPF, Jail staff, Ravinder Kumar, Sachin and Braham Kumaris Sushma and Pooja were also present. Sweets were distributed among the staff members and jail inmates.
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in District Jail Jammu, wherein Brahma Kumaris tied rakhies to the jail inmates and staff of District Jail. Harish Kotwal, Superintendent of Jail highlighted the importance of the festival.
Raksha Bandhan festival was celebrated in Sub Jail Hiranagar. Sister VK Sonica and VK Rashmi along with other comrades of Praja Pitta Brahma Kumari Ishwariay Vishaw Vidyalaya, Dayala Chak, Hiranager visited the jail and highlighted the importance of the day. Jail Superintendent Lazar Khandayaraj also expressed his views.
To celebrate Raksha Bandhan festival, the members of Seemajan Kalyan Smiti and Rapial Mahila Mandal along with some social workers tied rakhies on the wrists of BSF jawans and officers at BOP Chamlyal and BOP Nursery in Ramgarh sector of International Border in district Samba. Hemmat Kumar, Commandant 200 Battalion BSF, BOP-Chamlyal and Kulwant Singh, Assistant Commandant, 126 Battalion BSF, BOP-Nursery threw light on the importance of the festival.
Rashtriya Rifles situated at Bhaderwah under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) organised Raksha Bandhan festival at Battalion Headquarters. Girl students and staff of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Middle School, Gatha, Bhaderwah tied rakhies on the wrists of jawans. A group song was also presented by the girl students and staff. Girl students were presented with gifts.
Shastra Sewa Bal (SSB) celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Batote with pomp and show at Batote. The girl students of various schools tied rakhies on the wrists of jawans and officers of SSB. Commandant of SSB Batote threw light on the importance of the festival.
137 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) situated at Corps at Jakhani celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival. Commandant, 137 Battalion, CRPF along with Brahma Kumari from Geeta Pathshalla, Jakhani, Udhampur, DV Thomas, Second in Command, Anil Sekhawat, Assistant Commandant, other officers and jawans participated in the function.
Raksha Bandhan festival was organised at Chanderkot Garrison wherein school girls of Ramban district tied rakhis to jawans. The function was attended by District Commissioner and SSP Ramban alongwith Commander, Officers and men of the garrison.
BJP Mahila Wing celebrated Raksha Bandhan in District Police Lines Udhampur, where in District President of BJP Mahila Wing Manju Gupta and other senior leaders threw light on the importance of the day.
All India Backward Classes Union under the chairmanship of its president Abdul Majid Malik celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival at Bal Niketan Ambphalla. During the function, the girls tied rakhies on the wrists of boys and female inmates to male participants. Sweets were also distributed among all.
On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, BJP Mahila Morcha leaders led by State President Priya Sethi visited the office of SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand, to tie rakhis. SSP Uttam Chand told them that in coming days, District Police Jammu intends to take various measures to make society aware of various women related issues and then take strict actions against those who indulge in any kind of crime against women.
Raksha Bandhan festival was celebrated in Ramban where people from Muslim Community greeted to their Hindu brothers. The girl students of Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban and Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School, Ramban celebrated the occasion by tying the rakhi to the Army soldiers and officers. On the occasion Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, RA Inqalabi, SSP Ramban, Javed Iqbal Matoo, Sector Commander of Rashtriya Rifle and other officers of Army and School Education Department were also present.
Luthra Public School, Talab Tillo and Kacchi Chawani and Shemrock Angels, Talab Tillo celebrated Raksha Bandhan by flying kites and by Rakhi making competition. Principals of the institutions apprised students about the importance of the festival.
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated by the kids and staff of Astro Kids Playway and Primary School, Sainik Colony to strengthen the relation between brother and sister.
