SRINAGAR, Oct 10: In a move aimed at strengthening its outreach among displaced communities, the Janata Dal (United) Jammu & Kashmir unit has appointed Rakesh Handoo, a socio-political activist, as in charge of the Migrant Cell and party spokesperson for the Union Territory.
Handoo, recognized for his long-standing engagement with migrant welfare and social causes, has been a vocal advocate for the concerns of displaced communities. His appointment reflects JD(U)’s strategy to not only expand its political presence in Jammu & Kashmir but also to give a stronger platform to voices that have often remained on the margins.
Commenting on the appointment, JD(U) State president G.M. Shaheen said, “ Handoo’s experience, dedication, and connect with the public make him ideally suited for this role. His appointment underscores our party’s commitment to inclusive growth, social justice, and meaningful engagement with every section of society.”
