Rajnath to inaugurate multiple projects in J&K, Ladakh, other States from Leh on Dec 7

Works executed by BRO to improve connectivity

JAMMU, Dec 4: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will virtually inaugurate multiple projects in different States/UTs including Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from Shyok in Leh district in the UT of Ladakh on December 7.

The projects including roads, bridges, tunnels etc will improve connectivity in forward areas as well as far off villages in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh besides other States.
Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh will join the project inauguration ceremony virtually from Chandigarh or New Delhi where he will be attending International Science Congress while Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta will accompany the Defence Minister to Shyok.
Officials told the Excelsior that Rajnath Singh will inaugurate Shyok tunnel project physically from Shyok in Leh district in the Union Territory of Ladakh at 10.30 AM on December 7.
Simultaneously, he will inaugurate multiple projects constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) virtually from Shyok.
The works which will be inaugurated in Jammu and Kashmir include Golta bridge on Uri-Salamabad-Kaman Post road, Nand Singh bridge on Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri road, Barnoi bridge and Purana Tulail bridge, both on Dawar-Niru-Baruab-Chakwali-Kaobal Gali Road; all in Kashmir Valley, Baskhcha bridge, Janglot-I bridge, Janglot-II bridge, Sarthal bridge and Swapnagiri bridge, all falling along Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah road, Roundomel bridge, Barsui bridge, Blay bridge, Dadanel-II bridge, Dersu-VI bridge and Pranjali bridge, all along Dayalachak-Ramkot road, Tarnah-IV bridge on Chadwal-Sanjimore-Paharpur-Simbal road, Bagh bridge on Parole-Korepannu-Rajpura road, Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah road and Khet-CRP-Dhok road.
Most of these bridges and roads fall in the Parliamentary constituency of Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh.
Besides, there are many projects including roads, bridges and tunnels which will be inaugurated by the Defence Minister in other areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh UTs and other border States.
“These projects will improve connectivity not only in the forward areas but remote villages of different States and UTs. The development works will help defence forces as well as the local people,” the officials said.
Rajnath Singh will also assess the situation in Eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China with senior Army officers during his visit to Ladakh.
The Central Government has been engaged in construction of multiple projects especially in forward areas for improved connectivity for the defence forces along borders with China and Pakistan besides the civilians. A number of projects have already been completed while work on many other projects is on.
