KATHUA, Jan 31: In a major step towards strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring last-mile connectivity, MLA Jasrota, Rajiv Jasrotia and MLA Basohli, Darshan Singh today kick started the construction and maintenance work of a key road project under PMGSY-IV.
The road stretches from L023 (Link Road) at Km 7th of Boura Road to Athialta, covering a total length of 24.95 km at an estimated cost of Rs 68 crore and 65 lakh. The project is expected to bring long-awaited relief to residents of remote and interior villages by providing safe, durable and all-weather road connectivity.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Rajiv Jasrotia termed the inauguration a historic moment for the people of Jasrota. He said the road project would act as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation, opening new avenues for development, employment generation and economic activity. He emphasized that improved road connectivity would significantly boost agriculture, horticulture, and local trade, while also easing daily commuting for students, patients, and working professionals.
MLA Rajiv Jasrotia expressed deep gratitude to Union Minister, PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh, for his keen personal interest and proactive intervention in sanctioning this vital road project. He said that Dr. Jitendra Singh’s development-oriented vision, coupled with continuous monitoring, ensured that a long-pending public demand was finally translated into a tangible outcome.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Basohli Darshan Singh described the PMGSY road as a lifeline for rural and border villages, asserting that strong road connectivity is the backbone of sustainable development. He said the project would substantially reduce the isolation of far-flung areas, improve emergency response and disaster management, and ensure smoother movement of goods and services, thereby strengthening the local economy and rural livelihoods.
Darshan Singh also extended sincere thanks to Union Minister PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh for his continuous support and decisive role in securing approval for the project. He said the Minister’s hands-on approach and close coordination with elected representatives have accelerated infrastructure development across the region.
