JAMMU, July 30: Senior National Conference leader Rajesh Gupta today called for an immediate and uncompromising crackdown on the illegal sale of Gattu thread, also known as Chinese Manja, in the wake of the tragic death of Sahil Kumar, who was fatally injured by the banned material on the Jammu-Akhnoor flyover on July 26.
In this regard, Gupta today called on the DIG of Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range and demanded swift enforcement, targeted raids and stringent action against those profiting from the banned thread.
Labeling the incident as “murder by negligence,” Gupta said, “Those who continue to sell this deadly thread are profiting from pain and must be held fully accountable.”
He stressed the urgent need for public accountability and police action to prevent further tragedies.
DIG Jammu-Kathua-Samba assured Gupta that the police have taken the issue seriously and will maintain heightened vigilance across the region.
