JAMMU, Feb 10: Vishwa Hindu Parishad has announced the appointment of Rajesh Gupta as the president of its Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh unit.
This decision was made at the Central Working Committee meeting held at Mahakumbh (Prayag Raj) by Bajrang Lal Bagra, Central general secretary in the presence of dignitaries including Dattarey Hosbole (Sar Karyavah, RSS), Dinesh Chander (chief patron, VHP), Alok Kumar (International president, VHP), Milind Parande (Kendriya Sangathan Mantri), Vinayak Raut (Seh Sangathan Mantri), Dr Surendra Jain (joint general secretary) and almost all central office bearers.
In the meeting of Central Working Committee, VHP delegates from over 20 countries, besides senior office bearers from all state units from all over India were present.
Rajesh Gupta has been associated with VHP for over a decade and has served as the working president of the Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh unit for the past six years. He has worked in various capacities in Sangh ideological organizations in the past. He played important role in 2008 Shri Amarnathji land row and later served as State unit vice president in BJP before shifting to VHP in 2013.
Gupta has worked tirelessly to promote Hindu pilgrimages, develop pilgrimage tourism, and address issues related to the persecution of Hindus in terror-infested areas.
