SRINAGAR, Sept 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Executive Member Ravinder Raina today demanded immediate assessment of losses suffered by fruit growers across Kashmir and called for the waiver of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans.
Speaking to reporters after visiting fruit mandis in Shopian, Raina assured farmers that their concerns would be taken up with the Centre and the Union Territory administration.
“Every effort will be made to resolve their problems so that further losses can be avoided,” he said. Raina appealed to the Government to waive off KCC loans and provide financial assistance to orchardists. Click here to watch video
“Farmers are going through a difficult time. This is the time to provide them support, not politics. Damage assessment must be carried out and necessary steps taken by the administration,” he said.
He added that he had received a memorandum from the growers as well as the traders, and would place their demands before the Lieutenant Governor, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister.
The BJP leader, accompanied by party colleagues, visited the Prichoo, Pachhar and Shopian fruit markets where he interacted with growers and traders.
