JAMMU, Apr 8: Demonstrating honesty and promptness in passenger service, the ticket checking staff of the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), successfully recovered and returned lost bag containing valuable items to a passenger.
According to a Railway spokesperson, a female passenger inadvertently left behind her bag at the entrance of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station on April 6. The bag, containing gold jewellery, cash and important documents, was later found onboard Train Number 26403, Vande Bharat Express, by RPF personnel and handed over to the train’s ticket checking staff.
Efforts were immediately made to trace the owner, including multiple public announcements during the journey, but initial attempts proved unsuccessful. Acting swiftly, ticket checking staff members Adil Hussain and Akib Ahmed managed to retrieve the passenger’s contact details and informed her about the recovery. Upon arrival at Srinagar Railway Station, the passenger approached officials, and after due verification, her bag was safely returned.
In another incident, a passenger travelling on Train Number 22478 of the Vande Bharat Express left behind a trolley bag at Kathua Railway Station. The bag was promptly secured by railway employee Navdeep Antil, who contacted the passenger and ensured its safe return following verification.
Recognizing such commendable efforts, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal honoured staff members — Mandeep Kumar, Monika and Amit Kumar with Certificates of Appreciation today.
