SITAMARHI (BIHAR), Sep 29: Altogether 18 cell phones, four SIM cards and 12 chargers besides incriminating articles were recovered during the raid conducted in divisional jail of Sitamarhi here today.
Deputy Police Superintendent Sanjay Kumar said here that acting on a tip off that some jail inmates were making phone calls demanding extortion, raid was conducted in different wards of jail.
In total 18 cell phones, four SIM cards and 12 chargers besides prosecutable articles were recovered during the raid”, Mr Kumar said adding it was being investigated to ascertain how prohibited articles reached under the possession of jail inmates despite heavy security arrangements made for the jail premises.
Jail staff and those deputed for security were also being interrogated in this connection, Mr Kumar further said adding that stringent action would be taken against those found guilty. (UNI)
